the city of good living

The view by my house is amazing. I love standing there on that Crestview hill, looking out at the lights and the cars that look like insects running through the maze of streets. It is the peninsula, and I stand there looking at the bay that people are so proud to call their home. Make fun of those "bay" enthusiasts that call themselves gangsters as much as you want, they have a point - it truly is a beautiful place. I am not going to get '650' tattooed across my chest, but I will definitely "rep" the bay nonstop. I could stand there for hours just marveling at the place where I have spent the majority of my life.
I have driven the same route for 9 years (middle school, high school, all of my jobs), and every time I am surprised by the magnificence of that view. Now that I live in the East bay during the week and do not drive my car along these familiar streets, the view is an even bigger burst of surprise. I can drive these streets with my eyes closed. Sometimes I speed through the narrow Club dr. road just because I can. Sometimes I drive really slow, pissing off all the other cars, just to take a minute longer with that view.

Concrete Soundtrack

My heels are clicking against the cement. I own the cracks. Nothing can stop me.

Sometimes I walk around this strange city to a special rhythm. When I have a certain song pounding in my ears I am invincible. Who doesn't have a soundtrack to their life? For me it is a different one everyday. No matter what, the music sets my pace and I am happy for the moment. The world is moving around me but I am not part of the commotion. I am in my own world. I create my own reality as I move through space.

What made me feel alive today?

Megan Fox on NYLON October

This month's NYLON features cover girl Megan Fox. One of the highlights of my month is peaking into my less than popular mailbox and seeing the beautifull glossiness that is NYLON!
I am very excited for this issue, people can say what they want about Megan Fox - she's still beautiful and interesting to watch.

This issue's episode of NYLON TV:

Jennifer's Body

So I just saw Jennifer's Body and it was just OKAY. Yes Megan Fox looked hot.. and yes she did kill people... while looking hot. Amanda Seyfried was great in it. I think she really needs to get more roles she is a great actress. The movie was a bit frightening at parts (I am a scaredy cat) and I also got a few laughs in. Also, seeing Adam Brody not being an innocent nice boy was kind of awkward in my opinion. The plot isn't too great but it is entertaining at most.

My favorite part (apart from the sassy one-liners) was the soundtrack which included Florence and the Machine, Silversun Pickups, Hole, Cobra Starship,Celestial Crown, and bunches more.
Here is the trailer:

Sweater Song

Summer sweaters? Yes please.

Everyone is wearing long button-up sweaters as of late. I love it! Wear it buttoned up as a dress-type ensemble, wear it unbuttoned over a long tee, or simply use it to layer.
1. Thrift store
2. TJ maxx (xoxo)
3. Macys (xoxo)
& they were all super cheap too!

Totally unrelated BUT:
I really want a leather jacket. Not a heavy duty one but an h&m type thing..
like this one worn by my best friend (wallflower123):
loves it!

he's not perfect, he's the victim of his occupation

okay I have a confession to make: I'm one of those crazy girls.... I really like Robert Pattinson.

...So I don't really love him seriously (that is reserved for my boyfriend, hi joey!) but my obsession goes deep enough to where I google his name every couple of days. If i ever saw him I wouldn't scream and say "ROBERT! PLEASE BITE ME!"

but I would probably stare.. hard.

so lame I know. & the thing is that I'm not in love with "Edward" - he's just a fictional character duh.. but the actor who plays him seems really cool. Have you seen any of his interviews?? He is such a down to earth guy. He is really funny and just seems like he has a killer personality and knows how to just chill. Oh and did I mention that he is FREAKING GORGEOUS!!!

how did this random post come about? well my friend Zac just called me to tell me "the guy from Twilight is going to play Varg in the "Lords of Chaos" movie. Which was pretty mind boggeling considering that Lords of Chaos is about black metal and centered around Varg from Mayhem who killed his guitar player..how pleasant. OF COURSE I had to google this information and found that it's actually Jackson Rathbone who will be playing Varg.. He's no Rob but that's still pretty sweet.
Check out the article Lords of Chaos movie

Another interesting thing I found today while googeling.. Robert Pattinson's lips were auctioned off at Cannes today. There were 2 people who actually payed 20,000 euros (about $55,000) to have Robert Pattinson kiss their daughters on the cheek. Ridiculous!

This is what I wore to school today:Simple concept: black&white plaid needs balance with a nice solid color.
Originally, this blouse hung straight down with a little bit of an "A-line" shape. This was a bit unflattering and when the wind blew from a certain angle, I looked pregnant. So I just tied the ends together for a more sleek look.

Sometimes I wear this blouse with my plaid black&white Betsey Johnson purse,
but I hate the idea of purse and backpack together. I have always been very OCD about the purse/backpack combo. Maybe I'm traumatized from back in high school when girls wore their huge backpacks and teeny tiny purses that really didn't have a point because they had no room for anything to go in there (okay okay maybe a lipstick).

Anyhow.. here's the rundown:

shescool checkered extra-long blouse from tjmaxx

hilaration purple leggings from the San Carlos thrift store. (My friend Zac actually gave them to me the other day. Why he bought them in the first place is beyond me.)

Keds tassle flats with 2inch wedge from Amazon.com

By the way, I love my Keds flats. They are simply and comfy. At first sight they just look like regular flats but they have a secret: They have a "hidden wedge" that gives the shoe a little lift. Something bothers me about two-toned wedges most of the time so I usually go for the solid-covered hidden wedge (with the excepetion of SOME cork/straw wedge platforms)

Good Night (or morning depending on your sleep cycle.. I know mine is all messed up)

Call the Doctor

So has anyone noticed that Dr.Martens are making a huge comeback? Procrastinating writing my 6 page paper on the Palauan Islands of Micronesia, I decided to partake in some wishful online shopping. You see, Dr.Martens were worn by factory workers and postmen in the 1960s, later skinheads adopted the boot (something I'm not fond of.. ps: im Jewish), and in the 1970s they were being worn by masses of subculture fanatics including: Mods, glam, punks, ska, psychobillies, grebos, Goths, industrialists, nu-metal, hardcore, straight-edge, grunge, Britpop.

One word: WOAH. These babies were HUGE in the 90s but somehow they died down in the start of the new millenium... May we blame UGGs for this occurance?

"Dr. Martens are practical, hard-wearing and a design classic" (Martin Roach). Pretty much: they last forever and come in many different colors and designs.

Having doubts that something worn by factory workers and large bald-headed racist men can actually be turned into something cute?

Well here are some looks incorporating this age-old classic:
bothered by the chunk? try some Dr.Martens flats or wedges:

add some color to the mix or try some floral prints:

So maybe summertime isn't the best time to throw on some docs, but these chunky classics would go great with a simple pair of shorts and a spaghetti strap or a flowy top/leggings combo. Whatever your cup of tea is, Dr.Martens has a design for you.

Killer Ts!

So I came across this article today talking about different foods that you can eat to keep your immune system at its best..
you are what you eat

pretty good advice actually, especially since the food here is good for those of you who are watching your weight (ahem me..).

so apart from t-cells... here is a killer t-shirt i came across the other day

Very simple... but very feminine as well.. it has fluidity and style to the graphics.

only $12.50 from forever 21 (I am such a teeny bopper I know)... they have cute stuff... horrible quality but fashionable. Also, I should note that the denim there isnt awful quality. The jeans are super cheap and last a while.. I have a pair 1 years old and going strong.

So if you want the shirt here is the link: tee

Have a breezy day!
